![]() It is very easy for food particles and debris to get stuck right up against your teeth when you have braces. A dentist is going to be far more adept at getting into those tight places so you can have a healthy, clean mouth. A Dental Cleaning While Wearing Braces Should Be Done RegularlySome dentists want to still see you every six months when you are wearing braces, while others want to see you more often. You should speak with your dentist to find out the schedule they think you should follow based on your history of cavities and oral hygiene. When you go in to see your dentist, the first procedure on the docket is going to be a thorough cleaning. They are going to want to get in and around each of the brackets, and clean under the wires. This is something your toothbrush is going to struggle to do simply because it is not designed to get into these tiny places. Your dentist is also going to want to help you floss while you are there, and show you the best way to make sure you can keep up with flossing at home. These tasks are a bit more difficult with braces, so it is best to ask questions while in your dentist's chair. If you just got braces, or are about to, then call and schedule an appointment with your dentist right away. Let them see your teeth when you first get the braces on so they can teach you how to properly maintain them the whole time you have them. |
