Your smile is an important feature that has the power to make or break the impressions that you leave. Your teeth play a crucial role in the quality of your smile. Poor tooth alignment can greatly impact your smile, as well as your confidence. Alignment issues can also have a significant impact on your oral health, too. When your teeth are poorly aligned, they are more difficult to keep clean, increasing your risk for tooth decay and gum disease. You are also at a greater risk for tooth damage, bruxism, and TMD. At Sawrie Orthodontics we can help to correct the alignment of your teeth, improving your smile and your oral health, with orthodontic services.
Much like traditional metal braces, Damon braces use metal brackets and wires to correct the alignment of your teeth. However, instead of the wire attaching to the brackets using elastic O-rings, the wire is attached to Damon braces through small metal doors with sliding mechanisms. Where traditional metal braces need to be manually tightened, Damon braces are self-ligating or self-tightening. Because the braces are self-ligating, your teeth can move more freely, and they can often move faster. In fact, many patients with Damon braces complete treatment for up to 6 months faster. You typically require fewer office visits. Also, maintaining your oral hygiene is easier, reducing your risk for cavities and decalcification. Read more about Damon Braces
Damon Clear is a type of Damon braces that uses self-ligating brackets. Much like regular Damon braces, the brackets have small doors that hold the wire in place and tighten as your teeth move. However, instead of silver brackets, Damon Clear uses ceramic or clear brackets. The wire is typically metal, although it can be made from a clear material as well. With ceramic or clear brackets, Damon Clear is a much more discreet treatment, while still providing you with the same incredible results as regular Damon braces. Read more about Damon Clear
Invisalign provides a completely different way to straighten your teeth, improving your smile. This treatment uses clear plastic aligners, which are made from digital impressions of your mouth. The aligners are made to be worn for two weeks at a time before switching to the next set. They are completely removable, unlike Damon braces. However, they should only be taken out to eat or brush your teeth. Ideally, they should be worn for 20 to 22 hours every day. With Invisalign, treatment is typically much faster, with most patients seeing results between 9 and 15 months. Once your aligners are in your mouth, they practically disappear from view. Once you have achieved optimal tooth alignment and your orthodontic treatment is complete, a retainer is essential. A retainer is a removable device that is made to help maintain the proper alignment of your teeth. This device is made from an impression of your mouth. It consists of a thermoplastic base that sits on your palate and a wire that surrounds your teeth. With an aligner, you can prevent your teeth from shifting out of proper alignment as well as the need for future orthodontic treatment.
Effective orthodontic treatment properly aligns your teeth, vastly improving your oral health as well as enhancing the quality of your smile. For more information on our services, reach out to us here at Sawrie Orthodontics by calling (423) 624-8217 today. Read more about Retainers
